Welcome to the The Spin Chat Users Year Book 1997/1998 When I started chatting in the SPiN chat system (Internet Chat Exchange, ICE and RoyalChat), before the age of profiles and profile pics, I kind of enjoyed not knowing what people looked like. I thrived on the pure exchange of ideas and thought without any prejudices from what people looked like. Sometimes I didn’t even ask for ages. Many that I chatted with were surprised to find out just how old I was (34 haha, not THAT old!). Many people I talked to wanted to know what I looked like, so I put my picture on my home page and started leaving it in people’s guestbooks. It worked! No one has asked me since. At some point I had talked to so many people that the only way I could keep track of them was to know what they looked liked to help me remember. So I decided that seeing pictures of the people you chat with was a good thing, except where I visualized what the person looked like and it didn’t match their picture.
I’ve received a lot from what I call the “SPiN community” and I would like to give a little back. So I created this yearbook of sorts. Its a collection of pictures. Many I copied from homepages, by going down CRANKSTER’s directory and others were sent to me. At the time i was keeping it up todate, but with spin profiles today there is no need. However it is fun to see the old pics of chatters long gone. Because I zoomed and cropped the pictures, not all of them are of the quality that I would have hoped for. You might be able to improve on some by adjusting the brightness on your monitor. Of the 220 or so photos here, there are only 6 handles I did not recognize.
